Girl's Camp at the Alpine Haus

So...Where to begin?  Last year, Dan invited the Young Men in our ward up to Mike & Lou's cabin for High Adventure.  The Young Women got wind of it and were not about to let the boys have more fun than the girls.  They put the wheels in motion and Mike & Lou were gracious enough to let us have a week this summer for our Girl's camp.  Dan and I went along to make sure everything went well.

Jodi Clark was invited to speak to our girls about positive attitudes, faith, miracles and facing trials in their lives.  She is a cancer survivor from Texas.  Holly Kerr met her in Alaska and used her sky miles to fly her in to speak.  Sadly, her cancer has returned, but she is still as happy and positive as can be!

Each year the girls must "certify" camp skills.  They are required to go on 1 mile, 3 mile, and 5 mile hikes depending on their age.  We made it easier and just had everyone go on a five miler.  Amazingly, from the cabin to yellow lake, through Holiday Park and up the moose loop to home was exactly 5.00 miles.

Beautiful weather all week!

Bishop Dan!

What girl's camp doesn't have "spa day?"  After the hike, Susi Mabey brought up tons of exotic lotions, creams and scrubs.  Here she is giving Riley McBride a foot massage with her french lotion.  She and Sandra did every girl and leaders' feet.  Amazing women!!

Shelby painted everyone's nails.

Officially I was the assistant food person.  That was great cuz I could just decide when I wanted to help.  Melissa had to do every meal.  She was great and the girls were all so thrilled to help prepare and clean up it was amazing.

Shelby gave a talk on "Having the Light of Christ in your life. " Can I tell you that she is incredible.  All of the Young Women respect her so much it is inspiring just to be around her.

Troy came up for one day.  Shelby taught him how to make friendship bracelets.  He could not stop.  We are watching for him to open a booth on a street corner somewhere.

Let's see if I can get all of the names:
Front row:  Audrey Woodwell, ME!, Cambria Siddoway, Annie Giles, Caroline Goodrich.
2nd row:  Sammi Tolman, Samantha Spilker, Cara Petersen, Emma Cochran, Cassidy Sanders, Keira Price, Jessica Ferguson, Kaeley Clements Kelsey Gallager.
Back row:  Katlyn Phillips, Susi Mabey, Julie Grubbs, McKenzie Gilbert, Riley McBride, Aurora Siddoway, Annalia Price, Lindsey Mack, Lauren Goodrich, Sandra Woodwell, Jessica Tolman,  Deanna Ludlow, Katy Goodrich, Melissa Sanders.
We are all holding awards we received.
This was one of the best girl's camps ever.  At testimony meeting, almost every girl said that she loved the cabin.  I feel very bad for Piuta (our stake property that we go to every other year).  We have officially spoiled the girls for any kind of real camping they do in the future!  We decided that since they just finished Trek, it will be ok!
