Baby Shower for Maya

I got home from Maui on Thursday and hosted a baby shower for Maya on Friday night.  Polly was amazing and did tons of work on decorations, games, presents and food.  Love, love my tennis team:  Me, Melanie, Eva, Jane, Polly, Lynette, Pat, Wendy, Maya, Ann, Tracy and PJ.

Haleakala, take 2

So we loved hiking the inside of Haleakala so much the last time we were in Maui, we wanted to do it again today.  We didn't need to see the sunrise so we set out a little later in the morning--6am.
Very cold and cloudy when we started out.  We almost didn't go.  43 degrees at 8:30am.

About an hour into the hike.  Still pretty cloudy.

Finally, we can see into the crater (erosional depression).
A Nene

The last time we were here, we had lunch with 2 French Canadian girls.    This time:  2 Nenes.

Much clearer this time at this point.  You can see the roof of the cabin in the middle of the picture.

Took this same picture in May.
This is still our favorite hike.  We are going to try to do it every time we are in Maui.  We were very sore when we got back to the hotel.  11 miles (5 1/2 hours) is no cake walk!

San Fran and cabin

I have reverted back to my non-picture taking ways, but here are some pictures from the last month:

Shelby & Krissy

Some of the Dixie State Soccer Team at Half Moon Bay, CA

Shelby and Krissy at Half Moon Bay
Shelby being introduced.  Can't remember which game.  They played Notre Dame de Namur, Dominica, Academy of Arts and Holy Names.

Oakland Temple.  My mom and I did a session one day, then the team came back and did baptisms the next day.  If you look super close, you can see the team on the upper walkway.

Shelby and me.

Shelby holding.

Shelby looking confused as to why he called a foul on her.

An alien ship landing in Golden Gate Park.

Dan and a tree.

Janna and a tree.

Dan and some turtles.

They played the game against Holy Names at the Cal State East Bay field.

Shelby, she spent most of this game at midfield.  We won something like 7-0.

LuLu loves sticking her head out the window on the way to the cabin on Labor Day.

Districts and Sectionals

In August, my tennis team played in Districts and Sectionals.  We won districts by winning 3 matches best of five.  I think our team scraped by in the first 2, 3-2 then won the last match 4-1.  We had help from the other half in beating out the top team.  We were all very surprised that we won!

We only had 8 available players for Districts:  Maya, Joy, Eva, Ann, Janna, Polly, PJ and Jane.
Polly and I played and won all 3 matches in Districts.
Polly plays the forehand side, I am on the backhand.

Team meeting during sectionals.  We actually won our first 3 matches.  I didn't help so much, lost 2 out of 3.

My mommy came and watched all of the matches and took hundreds of pics.  Thanks Mom!
We beat Nevada, Idaho and Wyoming.  Colorado was also undefeated going into the last match.  They beat all 5 of our teams.  Polly and I had a close match against 2 young girls.  We came from behind to win the 2nd set then lost in a third set tie breaker.  Still, pretty good to do so well at 4.5.  Who knew??

Happy Birthday Dan the Man

Dan got a shirt, a book and a lovely Disney picture for his birthday.

Shelby's first games at Dixie

Tad and Kass and I went to St. George on Thursday to watch Shelby's first regular season games.  We were lucky enough to stay with Cherie and Gary Leavitt in their beautiful home.

There was a little confusion at the start so they just had the starters run out on the field.
This game was a 2-2 tie versus Cal State LA.  Shelby played all 110 minutes.  Krissy Page scored the first goal for Dixie.  Yay Krissy!

Tad exploring the backyard.
Kass working on her tan.

Tad playing pool boy.  He had a great time with the pool.

Shelby and Kass after the first game.

Dixie lost the 2nd game against Sonoma St 2-1.  Ashleigh Jameson was there to watch her little sister Abby play.
We sat with Ashleigh through the 2nd game then went and took pics with Ashley Woollam.  She trained all four girls.  Kass and Ashleigh at BYU.  Now Shelby and Abby at Dixie.
